No XP in Private matches?!!

Myself and my two friends each bought a copy of COD:MW2 as we like to play lan games together pretty frequently and at this stage, while still brilliant, COD4 was getting a bit stale.
So we indulged and got a copy each, looking forward to more lan shenanigans. Ok, so fair enough dedicated servers etc gone, but at least we could have a private match, just the three of us and work on getting some XP and levelling up a bit.... but wait... they FU<KED that up too! Jesus!
No experience points for any game thats not played on IWnet?! What kind of bull-sh!t is this!
Hoping this gets remedied with a patch!

Its to stop friends boosting stats in private matches, eg you let me repeatedly shoot you in the head to rack up my kill stats and headshot stats.

No XP in Private matches and rightly so, it would be completly abused.

Let's hope it doesn't get remedied with a patch. People should earn their XP rather then have mates boost them through ranks.

Rubbish! Just because we'd rather play free-for-all with only the 3 of us on a lan game rather than have to trawl the dregs of the IWnet games we should be punished?!
I hope they plan on sorting it out at some point, why should we be forced to play with others online, and not be allowed to play by ourselves while having the same game play experience.

I can only speak from the point of view of an xbox owner but when playing split screen and private matches you can gain XP but it goes towards your private account and is not transferable to the public account. You can still level up and get all the unlocks.

Not sure what platform you are playing on though so it may not apply to you

It is the same - There is no XP for private matches in COD4

It's not rubbish. If it was there it would be abused endlessly.

I heard you could do it in COD5?

How this can even be interpreted as a bad thing is beyond me.

Gets rid of the ****ters who boost privately, go earn your xp.

you still can play with just the 3 of you,
    in your own private server.
your just not gona be given the chance to abuse it and rank up fast.
if you want all weapons or max rank, then you'll just have to rank up the normal way like everyone else.

theyre not gona change it and allow xp in private servers.
    and i think theyre right.

But why not if we only want to play matches on our own private servers and not venture onto IWnet? We're using the PC version.

    fail,
seriously tho, what everyone said, ppl would inevitably abuse the system, like they do in mw1 cage matches

Because you are unfortunatly in the minority - many people would abuse this if they got XP for private matches. Blame the boosters...

Everyone is right, but if you are only using it for Private matchs with whoever then all you got to do is make an offline profile and rank up with that and get all guns etc...It just means when you go to play with other people online ranked matches you will not have them unlocks...

You can still rank up playing against each other..

I'm one of the aforementioned buds of majiktripp.

We play usually twice a month on/off for the last few months,
and the great thing with COD4 is every week or so there was a new
unlock or weapon to play around.
Just the three of us, a bit of craic.

Now we can't get any XP playing with the three of us.

So we try online with IWNet last night.
First off, we can't play free for all against each other and get XP,
there is never any free for all matches with 3 slots because of
IWNets stupid peer to peer crap.

So now I can't kill my buds and get XP for it.
That's the bloody reason I bought the game!

We can only get in on team games.

If I wanted team combat I'd play Team Fortress or Counter Strike.

I want deathmatches with my friends, but now we have to
go online with teabagging LOL ROFL morons to get XP.

Last night we were in a game were some of the guys thought
it hilarious to burp and type stupid messages all the way through.

Course you leave the game, it takes another 5 minutes to get
everyone back in the party (thanks STEAM), and try find another
    game.

We "played" for an hour, and 15 minutes of that was trying to get
the party system to work (several times it sent us off to different games)
and trying to find games that we could get (again, only team crap).

XBOX/PS3 users probably won't get it, but LAN gaming is a big part of
the PC community for the best part of 2 decades now.
We used to play Doom & Duke constantly back in the day (Doom II is still
on of my favourite games ever!), there was no online back then.

All of this multiplayer has it's roots in LAN, and Infinity Ward have really
    screwed over the PC community.
COD wouldn't have anywhere near the popularity it does now only for
the online community established by the PC users back with COD2,
it's a real smack in the face what they've done.

As stated above, when you have a LAN with a 360 (Microsoft call it System Link) you do earn XP. The XP goes towards a different account or character than the ones used for ranked games so there is no problem with boosting of stats for on-line play

I can see it being a pain in the ass if that feature is not included in the PC version.

Their matchmaking system is a joke

I'd be quite happy if we could work away on our own like that, but unfortunately
it isn't a feature included in the PC version, I didn't realise that X360 users were
    getting that option!

Yep, they really screwed it up unfortunately, we can only hope for a patch,
but given that Infinity Ward now has (almost) as much money as God (and RockStar),
I think it's unlikely they will give a rattling fcuk.
