With the winter weather upon us,can anyone recommend some suitable clothing? Brands, where to get them etc...I'm based in Dublin.
Looking for a light sweater that'll keep me warm and not interfere with my swing. Also some sort of rain jacket that is also light and keep out wind and wet. Willing to spend a few quid if it's quality.

    Thanks in advance.

    Z.

Get an Under Armour long sleeve mock... it's a great base layer. I bought one recently (~€40) and used it in Scotland and found it very warm. Under Armour seems to be popular on here too judging by recommendations.

Yes can recommend Under Armour very much. A great base layer and it doesn't restrict your swing which is great.

You can get them for €40 in JJB, while in Lifestyle and other sports shops you get them for €50, think Mcguirks stock them also.

Greystones Pro Shop is having a monster clearout this weekend. One of the items advertised in the local paper is a full Footjoy Rainsuit with 2 year guarantee for 99euro - can't go wrong with that.

    I have 5 of these now :)
Just make sure that you know which one you are getting.
There are compressions ones and "loose" fitting ones. The loose ones are still fitted but the compression ones are very tight. I dont mind them but might not be for everyone.

Also, I often wear leggings (under armour and others) and then just my wetgear. Very comfortable and dont have to worry about being too hot.

i tried one on in American Golf today...special christmas offer,a mock plus hat for €48...the one i tried on was a medium and it felt quite tight,i'm not a big guy...a little uncomfortable to be honest...large felt better but maybe they are better when tight...are they better than the loose ones?

I have both and dont mind either, I find the compression ones warmer, which can be too warm if the sun comes out.
The should all have a fitted feel to them, but the compression ones are thicker and much tighter. It will say it on them "Cold Gear" and/or "Compression"

Canterbury also do them and can be a good bit cheaper. I got two compression ones for €25 each in Lifestyle last week, but it was a special offer. Down from €65 each :D

Lots of deals on BaseLayers on mandmdirect.com I bought a great Adidas one a few months back and a Puma one last week. Use their EURO site (select euro as currency) they had a deal with Free delivery with Orders over €35.

That is a good deal. Do they have the loose fitting ones or just the compression ones?

Both, but note the non compression ones are still pretty much skin tight...the compression ones are effectively half a size smaller than skin tight :)

Im a medium in most things and have large in both the compression and regular ones. There wasnt that much of a difference so I went for the larger ones as the arms were a bit longer.

You will soon get used to that warm feeling...and not being able to bend your elbows :)

Be warned, this bit is important as if the sun comes up all of a sudden it can be very hot...and unless you have a bod like in the pic, you dont want to be wearing one of these tops with nothing else over it! :o
