Just a last minute heads up here.
As of last night the numbers of people who have told us they are coming along puts the tournaments at the following approx numbers
    FB - 26
    40K - 60+

We have leeway for Fantasy battle .The organization team for 40K is looking at all the options available ensure that everyone who arrives gets to play.

What it means to players is it's a good idea to buy your ticket ahead of time or tonight at the con if you can.
If you're planning on buying your ticket Sat please arrive early to avoid possible dissapointment

Got this this morning from the lads doing the running.

    Hi folks,

Warpcon 2010 has now finished, and all results are in. we had a turnout of 64 players overall, excluding folks who stood in for others for a variety of reasons.

Attached you can find pdfs containing the points breakdowns and overall scores and ranks, and in the second you can see the rankings when only the hard scores were taken into account. --- Note- due to limits on the software we were using the sportmanship and army list points were combined as were the Quiz and the appearance scores.

The different awards categories were as follows:
1st place: Mike Brown with his Imperial Guard
2nd place: Cian O'Dowd with his Imperial Guard
3rd place: Francis Mahon with his Eldar
Best Painted army: Robert O'Byrne won Best Painted army with his dark elves. Second place was Jimmy Murphy with his Orks.
Most Sporting Player: Daire O'Mahony won most sporting player

Also of note was the Golden Dragon painting competition. This year, there was a single category covering single miniatures from any game system. The top three players were:
Jimmy Murphy in 3rd place with his Orc Warboss on Bike
Cian O'Connor in 2nd place with his Orc Wierdboy
    Ugo Greavey with his Vampire.

Overall, the weekend went well, and the players were a joy to work with. One major issue raised was at the start of the tournament, where there was a slight delay due to organisational difficulties.

The other issue that was brought to our attention the most was confusion with the scoring for the second games mission in 40K- the special objectives Mission. Many players found the idea a novel one, and enjoyed it. However, how to calculate the scoring for that game was not all that easy to do.

One suggestion regarding this was to keep the weighted objective system, but to then use standard points scoring tables for the tournament points, as opposed to splitting the 20 points available between the 5 objectives.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions to improve the convention, please don't hesitate to pass them on either here or via email to warpconwargames at gmail.com

Cheers guys, it was an enjoyable weekend, if a bit nackering :D
