GAA Football/Hurling as a subject for paintings?

    Hi All,

    Im helping my younger brother with his Junior Cert Art Project on which he has chosen the theme sport-GAA. For his support studies he is looking to track down artists that have depicted scenes of football or hurling in their work.

    The only one I can think of off hand is Sean Keating-The Tipperary Hurler.

    Does anybody know of anybody else?? Thanks in advance.

    Paul Downey is an artist who has done paintings of hurling etc.

    have a look at www.gerryhegarty.com

    he is a fantastic original Irish impressionist, on his website there are several examples of GAA paintings. He also does commissions so send him your photo and requests.
