Anyone notice a dramatic improvement to battery performance after upgrading to 3.1.2 fw? I was previously on 3.0.1 and after upgrading, I can almost squeeze 3 days usage from one charge with the occasional call, surfing, facebook etc. Happy days! On 3.0.1, I found battery performance more erratic with some days discharging a lot quicker than others??

This did happen to me on 3.0.1 at one point so your battery may not be fried just yet yet. A couple of suggestions:

    1. you can update to 3.1.2 and see if there is any improvement (like I did)
    2. Do a battery recycle - completely discharge and recharge using the mains
    3. Do a full restore

3 days???!! Wow. Is this on a 3GS? My battery has gone to sh1te lately. Max I get is about 5hrs with minimal usage. On the way up to work it dropped 10% in about 50 mins with no usage except check email every 15mins - all other draining service settings off (location services etc). Best I've ever had was about 14hrs. I've done a restore and am on latest fw. Judging by usage you guys are getting my battery must be focked.

Yes, this is using a 32GB 3Gs. If you're only getting 5hrs minimal usage, there is definitely something wrong there! You could contact Apple and apparently they can install something on your iPhone to track the battery drainage and give recommendations from there or a replacement if they deem it's an actually physical battery problem.

I think your battery meter calibration is off, so try doing a full battery recycle (fully discharge and charge it again).

cheers. Think i'll ring them... have done full recharges a few times.

I'm on an 8GB 3G and updated to 3.1.2 last week and the battery difference is unreal! Well impressive, made the update worth while.

To the peeps getting 3 days out of the battery, what settings do you have on? For example Wifi, bluetooth, location services, screen brightness level.

Bluetooth: only on when used, otherwise off
    Location Services: off
Wifi: only on when used, otherwise off
    Notfications: On
Fetch New data: On, set to hourly

pretty much the same settings with me and I get a super 5hr battery life! Anyway I rang Apple earlier and I had to restore without installing backup. Gotta run this for one day and call them back if still an issue. Not looking any better so far. 3 days would be amazing! Cant even get a night out without the thing dying.

Yes, you can now jailbreak and unlock 3.1.2, there is a separate thread on this.
