I'm looking to buy an airsoft mask with goggles. I decided I'd prefer the full face protection. Don't want to risk chipping a tooth.

I don't have much to spend, but I was looking at these:

    http://www.rsov.com/index.php?target=products&product_id=3781

I don't know if anyone has any experience with them, or maybe you could recommend a better mask?

    Thanks in advance.

a guy on my team uses the "wire mesh" goggle verson of that mask, never heard him complain about it.
abit of anti fog on those goggles and it shud be 100%.
personal preference at the end of the day!

Don't skimp on your eye protection, you only have one set of eyes mate, get a better mask.

Well an inexpensive mask doesnt necessarily mean a bad mask. Thats why I was asking your opinion.

How much would you normally pay for one?

if its designed for airsoft its gonna hold man... unless it was misstreated to a serious extent!
not all of us are able to afford 60E goggles, and even at that they do not feel the best due to fogging and BBs scratching the goggles!
so if anything i believe a nice affordable mask/goggle Designed for airsoft would be your best buy so that it may be replaced easily if realy nessesery!

+1 A decent mask is the most important piece of kit you'll ever carry into a game!

Have had a couple of 'airsoft' masks fail catastrophically with slight abuse. Your best bet is holding off untill you have the money to pick up a mask thats going to stand up to everything ;)

It all depends what type of game you're playing in IMHO. If youre playing outdoors a neoprene mask and a decent pair of goggles might suit!
(If you're really worried about your teeth pick up a cheap sensei mask and tear the bottom half out and use it for some protection :D )

If you're mainly playing indoors get yourself a full face mask. I use a paintball mask myself and have never had an issue (bar fogging), but all indoon games are so short that they rarely have the chance to get so foggy it becomes an issue:P

Let me put it this way. When you get a mask or goggles/glasses, if you're not confident to shoot them point blank and have them live...then don't use them. You shouldn't be afraid to shoot them, as you're literally testing them for how they'll be used.

Also on the note of cheap V expensive...it's not cheap if you have to buy like 5 of them to match the longevity of the expensive one.

PS: If you think masks are dear, try hospital bills :D

Please don't go near them clones. I have seem two of them falling apart out in Redbarn. If you are serious about a decent mask, save some more money and get the TM one.

I am terribly confused. I don't know what you mean by "serious about a decent mask".

All I want is a mask that will survive getting hit by a pellet. I don't play regularly, and thought a cheap mask would make sense. Investing in a €50 mask that I will only use a few times a year doesnt make sense to me.

I would have thought that if its an airsoft mask, it is designed to resist pellets.

Then why don't you just rent a mask from the site.

For the most part they are. But there are other things that can happen also.
Running into trees, buildings wall etc.
Branches or thorn bushes hitting you in the face.
    Falling on your face literally.
    Accidents do happen.

You've only got 1 pair of eyes, you can't replace them. Buy the best you can afford, but don't skimp. At the end of the day it's your choice, don't say nobody didn't warn you. ;)

What Rhino said -- I can't count the number of times some clumsy oaf's barrel, a tree branch, bits of gear and other miscellaneous flying debris has whacked off my goggles, hard, making me think 'That seriously would have had my eye out'.

BBs are only a small part of your worries.

Also, the idea of skimping on a mask is ludicrous to me. It's the one thing you should be spending money on.

That would probably be your best vet, most sites have decent enough masks to rent out! if you're only planning on skirmishing a few times a year aswell it probably makes more sense regarding money aswell!

Well can anyone suggest any good full face masks then? What ones do you guys use?

I was looking at some on the Irish airsoft sites, but wasn't sure if they were any good. I could be paying €50 for a mask and it still could be rubbish!

    Thanks.

    This one.
I'm more of a glasses man myself but I'm tempted to get one of those, just incase.

Looks like a decent one. I found it on another site too: http://www.mainirishairsoft.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=588

Not sure if its the same one, but the picture is the same. Cheaper too.

Know where I can find a review? I tried googling it, but with no success.

Definitly agree with puding here, but they really are dead handy. I've one myself at home that is next in line for a quick project. Will be stiching a small pocket into the mouth area and putting in a piece off an old paintball mask. Can't remember were I saw it online, was ages ago:rolleyes:

Neoprene's the foamy rubbery stuff wetsuits are made out of. As such, it doesn't breathe or let water through at all. Comfortable to wear immersed in cold water. I haven't tried it for airsoft but the idea seems completely ridiculous to me; the build-up of sweat must be phenomenal.

meh its not that bad really, it's comfortable (ie flexible) and has a sufficient amount of holes stamped in the front for ventilation. It just wont give you enough protection during CQC situations :( I know Viper do a version for airsoft!

I came across this mask earlier today: http://www.ebairsoft.com/goggle-full-face-version-with-black-p-2309.html

Seems to be a good one, but I'm not sure. Opinions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 711 ✭✭✭Spooky-Vinny

Yeah I've heard those fan masks are brill except for the fact all you can hear is a constant low whiiiiiiiirrrrrr all day. Still not bad trading a small bit of hearing for whole lot of vision.

i'm using this mask myself. good. good enough. quality is quite good, but still few problems. battery covers are not easy to remove. apart from that one cover now mounted by tape at the mo. if it's rainy and/or you are in small room - it still could be foggy. two modes for fan - slow and force. slow is almost quiet, forced - hard to hear around. i tryed to use mesh mask but back to this straight away as it much clear for me. overal it's 4 of 5.

im not sure if you have exp. with them, i havnt myself but my friend owns a proper set of googles with the fan on them, and they dont work all the time, he has problems still with the fogging of the goggles. and yes, the noise coming off the fan is abit mad lol, i laughed the first time i heard it coming off my friends face lol
personaly anti fog cream etc. works aces for me. try "cat crap" funny name i kno but its the one me and my friends use and it works 100% as i personaly had always had goggle fogging problems sinse i have started using this.

Gotta say i dont have first hand exp with that type, but i have heard they;'re good.

I have to say i love mesh goggles but not the bog standard plastic crap. I'm in the process of trying to replace the lens of a pair of ski goggles (which the lads in drog airsoft help me stress test, to failure :P) with a mesh lens. I'm not goin to bother with plastic lenses ever again they fog way too much and i'd rather take the risk of getting shot in the eye than wear one and not enjoy the best sport in the world.

i have used mesh myself and they are fine but i think it darkens the intire suroundings by too much, and its harder to spot well camoed enemy, and worst of all the giant glare off the sun i experienced off the mesh, im not sure how to explain it but it blinded me =S
i would suggest using using the "cat crap" i promise you that you will enjoy the greatest sport in the world, plus it looks fr perfessional if your going for the whole expert look you know!
