    Hope this isnt the wrong place but anyone familiar with using the newsletter templates in Magento?

    Im having problems understanding it,Im a novice.

    To be honest these days I'd probably say avoid the custom inbuilt newsletter stuff and use the likes of http://www.mailchimp.com/

    1: You're going to have to know about the Magento templating system for newsletters which you don't

    2: You're going to have to set up mail sending and hope you don't get blacklisted

    3: 3rd party tracking software gives you a hell of a lot more details than the likes of magento

    its not hard. go to...

    settings
    transactional email
    add new template
    select one youwish to copy
    edit it to your liking
    save
    go to sysetm -> config -> customer config
