Ireland's Player of The Year - as recently voted by the Rugby League International Federation (strange as he missed most of the season:confused:) - Damien Blanch is nearing a return to full fitness following knee reconstruction surgery after rupturing his cruciate ligament in April.

So impressive were Damien's performances for Ireland in the WC that there were rumours that he was going to be snatched by the dreaded other code, luckily for RL and Ireland he has just signed a new two-year contract at the Wildcats:D

Great news, a superb player for both club and country. Love to watch him play.

Glad to hear it, hope he starts right back where he left off. Was disappointing to not see him for the season after his World Cup performances.

Yes he started the season on fire, looked as if the WC experience had really boosted his confidence.

Wakey are hoping/expecting to have a big season next year and Blanch will have a very important part to play in that.

Talk about the luck of the Irish ....not!!

Poor old Damien, first game back after knee reconstruction and he breaks his hand:eek:

The break is serious enough to require surgery so he will be out for 8-10 weeks, thereby missing several rounds of Superleague matches. That's tough - get well soon Damo.
