Are they recent? The Granada Hearse looks very familiar if the reg is MZF i'd say it's the one I knew. Some of those cars look familiar, there's a brown Celica in the backround like one I had years ago and there's a Talbot Tagora there too. I've a feeling this place is big Seans in Ovens in co. Cork. It's all been crushed now by the EPA if it's the same place i'm afraid.

    It's in Kildare afaik.

For some pointless reason, the person who took the pictures decided to blank out the reg plates.

Your right, he keeps saying it's near Kildare town. Wasn't there a fella with a scrapyard on the left as you drove out of Kildare who used to live in a bus? There used to be a field full of Rover P5b's on the way into Kildare on the left years ago too. I'll have to take a trip up to Kildare and see if I can find the place, lots of interesting stuff there.

Some pictures were put into an old Practical Classics magazine in the 90s. It had some Dublin CIE buses as well. There was also a field with the Rovers and an Austin/Morris LD Mothers Pride van I think, but theyve been gone for over 20 years. There is an oil distributor there now. A big house next to it used to have a Ford Consul convertible outside the front door.

Wow, what a selection of cars. Renault 14, Audi 80, Nissan Cedric/Laurel, Vauxhall Victor, Opel Rekord D estate,a ford zodiac Mk 4, Vw Variant, fiat 600 and a Dodge Supervan (Commer PB). Are those pictures taken in the last few days or a few years back. Some Cork Fords such as Anglias and the green Cortina mark 2 amongst that lot and some Triumph Dolomites too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 291 ✭✭gfwd

If you are down there and happen to spot it, could you check out the Mk1 Suzuki Swift that's in the same shot as the blue Ford Probe? I'm on the lookout for one or maybe just one as a parts source.

Could this request be any more vague? :D

When I was a young lad, the next door neighbour had an estate one of those, along with a nordie saloon (the reg was "JIA" IIRC) like the one in the photo for parts. The saloon was relatively straight but had no running gear whatsoever on it. I remember it being dragged over the road by a tractor (bear in mind that the car had no wheels  ) and being placed in the riverbank (to prevent erosion, don't you know!) along with a Ford Anglia estate and a Mk2 Cortina, both of which were thoroughly shagged.

    Big Sean is gone?

He was something of a character (and a very useful yard). He used to sit with who I presume was his wife in a different car every week at the entrance, some quite new, piled high with fag boxes, chip bags, and wads of cash.

The Poles used to love that place, there was always a few of them around, keeping their ancient german tat on the road...
