Any ideas why this would be?

I tried a few times and got redirected to
    http://block.opendns.com/?url=www.guardian.co.uk/

Then I switched and flushed dns, works now.

    Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

That URL doesn't actually look up whether something's blocked or not.

    Huh??

I'm didn't say that that URL checked if a website was
blocked or not. I got redirected to that address when
    trying to access guardian.co.uk

    Your URL doesn't show anything.

Checking this one shows someone tagged it as pornographic,

I didn't know openDNS worked like that.

It's amazing people can tag news sites as
pornographic and get them blocked like that.

    Thanks for the info

The tagging is based on votes, so you can register an account and vote against the tagging and hopefully correct this.

OpenDNS provide options in your account on whether or not to block based on certain categories, you may want to check that if you've regged with them.

I just used them as reliable alternatives if BT's DNS wasn't
    working properly. Never registered.

    Good to know. Thanks.
