Sale of ex Dublin Corporation house

    Not looking for specifics here.

Basically I'm selling my late Mum's house. It was a Dublin Corporation built house originally in 1974 - I inherited the house when she died a couple of years ago and I bought out the ground rent from Fingal CC last year (area transferred from Dublin Corporation to Fingal in the late 70's).

I have a buyer for the house, but his solicitor is looking for documentation from the council that the premises are exempt and that there are no breaches in the original contract order from 1974.

My own solicitor told me today that as the house was built 35 years ago that no enforcement regulations can issue and that planning permission was not required as the house was originally built by the council.

I'm not looking for specific advice on my own situation - but do such issues of planning permission arise generally in the sale of an ex-corporation house?

This comes up all the time - your solicitor just needs to apply to DCC for the standard letter confirming the house was built by them and that planning permission for the original construction was not required.

Takes no more than 3-4 days.
