I am looking into setting up a tour operations company between Germany and Ireland. I know Germany very well and am fluent in the language. My problem is finding out how to get going and where to seek advise? I have a lot of ideas after working in the industry but it is just getting onto that next step of the ladder so to speak! Sorry if this thread sounds a little vague. I will provide more information if anybody needs it.

    Hi janullrich,

It could be a tough job in hand. Just back from the Munich beer fest and it worked out fairly cheap... Cheap flights €120, hotel (4 nights) €120, and the transport system in Germany is top class!

A cheap flight, good standard of hotels are nearly always available due to the current climate. And I'd think that anyone looking to stay in Germany would have a good bit of research done to see what tourist attractions are in the surrounding area and visa versa?

Maybe if you advertised yourself as a German tourguide living in Ireland and can offer an excellent tour in the mother tongue might be better?

can you get German people to come over here in quantity to go on tours? If you can, you are going to have an opportunity to make a lot of new friends.

From RTE SixONe news last night:

There has been recently or is a larger trade delegation of German Tour Operators and Travel Agents visiting Kerry.

Over 470,000 Germans visited Ireland last year. Authorities I believe looking to grow this by 20%

You may find the report on www.rteplayer.ie If the group are still here, jump in the car and go to Killarney -Irish style. You'll find them in the pubs at least. They seemed to be enjoying that.

Take a look at the German Irish chamber of commerce, they would be a good place to start.

Thanks folks for the advice. Found some interesting stuff particularly about the Tour Operators.
