iPod Skipping Songs

    Hi all...

    new problem with my iPod.

Lately when I put on some songs/albums, it inexplicably skips some tracks.
Sometimes it does this after playing the first half of the song, then it starts to make a chugging sound, like a struggling engine, then it just skips to the next song.

These songs weren't ripped from scratched cds so that can't be it.
Can anybody tell me what might be causing this?

At the moment I'm erasing said albums and re-ripping the cds to see if there is any change that way.

P.S. I'm not sure what Gen the iPod is....it's 80GB, black, and plays videos if that helps at all.

Don't know if iPods have this - but is there a "shake to shuffle" option turned on? :pac:

    Hard drive failing?

Are you serious? What would cause that?

I'm not sure I'm comfortable opening it up!
