Best software to stay within Vodafone Mobile Broadband usage allowance on PC or Mac?

The parents got Vodafone Mobile Broadband a couple of weeks ago. It’s got a 10Gb usage allowance per month and after that it becomes about €20 a Gb! Unfortunately it was the only service available to them.

They’re not the best when it comes to computers and I want to prevent the chance of them getting ripped off.

What software would you recommend to alert them or better yet prevent them from going over their limit? Preferably something I can set up for them once and forget about. Are there any programs that can pull the data usage figures from the Vodafone account itself?

They current have an old PC but I plan on getting them a Mac for Christmas so advice for either system would be appreciated.

    Thanks for reading.
