    Hey all,
Im starting in a VEC school next week. Its two maternity covers for English rolled into one, and its 22 hours per week. I have an Hons degree and Masters degree in English, but no Hdip, will I be paid the qualified rate 42 Euro, or unqualifed 27 Euro, as far as Im aware of, you dont need the PGDE to be qualified to teach in VEC's? any help on the matter would be great.

as far as i know the unqualified casual part time rate is around 42/43 euro an hour.the qualified casual part time rate is 49 euro an hour.i dont think you need to be qualified teacher to work in a vec but you need hdip or equivalent to get paid qualified rate.you should get paid 42 euro an hour.im not sure what rate the 27 euros an hour is for but ive heard it mentioned

    Hi,
I was in a simliar position to you a few years ago. Degree in English and MA in English too. I got 40.92 in 2008 so its probably up to 42 euro by now.
    Good luck :)
