I was talking to diddler last night bout this, it would be very hard to fill the O2 for a K1 event. Soem fo the top shows in the UK are finding it hard to get 1400 people to them and they are bringing over the best thais in the world to fight the top uk lads

If they managed to mesh K1 and MMA fights you would do better at filling it. but on K1 alone I think its gonna be hard. In saying that I would go just to see the big name in action

I think they would get a big crowd but nothing like that required to sellout the O2. Obviously it would be hugely supported by the MA community (Thai, Kickboxing and MMA) but alot of marketing would be required to attract the average punters.

I expect they will get sellout crowds in Holland, France and possibly Italy due to Petrosyan but its hard to see it being sucessfull moneywise in Ireland.

Yeah I think the big issue is the grand populace would not have heard of k1

Would there be irish fighters at a standard to get matched on this? (excuse my ignorance) Local fighters always helps to draw a crowd.

For thoes out there ignorant to what K1 is!

K1 is a striking competition with competitors from all styles of Martial arts such as Boxing, Muay Thai, Kyokushin Karate etc

It is like MMA without the ground work-very exciting and dynamic striking is used in K1..

Out of interest i checked the capacity of the O2. Apparently it is 20,000. Do we have any medium size venues in Ireland? Possibly the RDS but after that they are all small venues which would struggle to hold 1500 people safely.

The new conference centre looks very nice but even that has an 8000 capacity.

I would love to see a K-1 event here, but they would have to be in a small venue to start off with.If the go to the O2 or something similar and ticket wise it doesn't do so well K-1 might not be so inclined to run another event here.

Since when does K1 or Grand Prix have anything got to do with Martial Arts ? I think you are lost, Look for the motersport section of the forums.

I think the capacity of the O2 in dublin is more like 10,000-12,000.

yeah but by the time the set up for a ring the 20,000 is well reduced. I think it was around 12,000 for the UFC. Anyone know what the available seating was for the Dunne fight?
