It's coming up as £59.16 when I click on the link.

    How useful is this remote?

It's gone back up in price.. got in an order for it as an Xmas present at £26.40 (incl. shipping and VAT).
    How useful is this remote?
    I have the Harmony One..

    logitech-harmony-one.jpg

.. which is a more bells and whistles version (touchscreen, more than 5 devices etc) of the above and I find it absolutely essential.

If you have a complicated electronics setup or a lot of remotes, they're just extremely useful.

For example, to watch my WD TV would involve me:
    • Switching on the TV
    • Switching the TV to the right input
    • Switching on the WDTV
    • Switching on my decoder
    • Switching my decoder to the right input
But with the Harmony, I click one button.. and it can control all the devices! :D

    +1 for the Harmony One.
Fantastic remote and can be programmed to control just about any IR device. Great if you have multiple sources e.g. xbox, surround sound, Sky, DVD, Blueray. Hit an activity and it does all the switching!

I have the xbox 360 version of this, it's pretty much the same remote. It works great, but after a couple of years and plenty of use I think it's coming to the end of its shelf life.

If you look at the picture of the remote above, most of the buttons (like the channel buttons) are soft rubber ones. They still work grand. Other buttons (like the volume/channel+ buttons, and the 2 buttons on either side of the screen) are kind of a hard plastic button. Some of these (the ones that get the most use like volume), now have to be pressed extremely hard to get them to work.

Extremely handy though if you have a load of devices you want to control together.

Fantastic remote, I had 1 of these, I'd recommend these to people.

Point of note, young nephews, coke (the drink I'm not that bad of an uncle) and sweets mean that your fancy remote might not work again

Indeed... every time my niece or nephew go near any of my electronics (MacBook, iPhone etc), I wince! :D

Which is better, Harmony One or Harmony 515 ?

Well, the Harmony One is better... i've mentioned it has the touch-screen and it can control more than 5 devices over the 515.

But you've essentially the same control scheme and multitude of electronic devices in the database (which they can control) - the Harmony 515 is a steal at €30!

    Hi guys

I have one of these tv's

    http://www.sony.ie/product/hcs-surround-kit---dvd-player/tav-l1

Would one of these remotes control this tv, including the motorised front?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    :)

Thanks Basquille, it is still available there at £24.99 from amazon.co.uk, although delivery will take between 1 and 3 months (??). Good price, if it doesn't dispatch in a week or 2, I can always cancel.

Check if your devices are compatible here: http://myremotesetup.com/EasyZapper/New/Main.asp?WebProcessAction=Start&ReturnUrl=%2FEasyZapper%2F.%2FNew%2FProcSpice%2Flanding.asp&ClassId=PrSpice.ProcSpice&RelativePath=ProcSpice%2F

It's worth bearing in mind.. if a device doesn't work with the Harmony out of the box, you can use the original remote of the device to program the Harmony with those commands.

I have the 555 model of this (50 quid on amazon now) and I find it brilliant. Works on everything I have tried so far (6 devices) and allows me to keep the original remotes in a safe place away from my marauding 2 year olds.

Just ordered one at 30 euros. Well spotted Basq!

My sitting room is getting full of gadgets and dvds that you have recommended!!

I decided to be smart 1 day and hide my laptop under a cushion on the couch, while I was talking to my sister in the kitchen my nephews decided to have a game on the Wii and my niece got a bit excited and jumped up on the sofa, you can picture the rest :(

Back on topic, most of the logitech range are great, I don't think you can go wrong, but make sure to count the amount of devices you need a remote for, then add 2, that's the number of devices you'll need the remote to cover

I think its time i invested in a Harmony, but the damn PS3/bluetooth problem exists. Are the converters up to much when got with a Harmony?

The bluetooth thing isn't really a major problem though.
Even though you can't switch on the Wii with the Harmony it will switch to the correct input and you have to pick up the Wii remote to play anyway!

Me ask the guy from Logitech at a trade fair and he said the 885, he was right., the one is just an updated 885.

Also you can always upgrade in the future with these remotes with a reprogram. The 885 is around for like 70/80 euro.

definately not fakes, why would they fake or clone one of the cheaper models,

They are old stock, being sold off from the oem.

Well it's just that they're quite cheap and coming from the land of knock offs, Hong Kong. Also there's another seller from Hong Kong, selling the same product for the same price and same shipping whose feedback is riddled with "fake item" negatives. I'm assuming it's the same guy.

Today's "day breaker" on Komplett is the Harmony 785 for €69, looks decent enough, comes with a recharging base and can be collected free from Dublin depot.
    Link: Logitech Harmony 785
I've had a couple in the past, all died through no fault of Logitech (hi kids!). They do take a while to set up but agree with other posters here, they're worth it!

yeah, I just saw that myself as I had been looking for the 555, but its out of stock. Very tempted tbh.

Anyhow I decided to order one, along with the Harmony PS3 converter. Its good to be able to stick with Komplett, as with the 555 being out of stock I was going to have to buy elsewhere, but not now.

Got an email from Amazon saying that the order for the Harmony 515 could not be completed:(

    I hate when that happens.
