Do you think it would be worth that money.
And if its really chipped to 540. what would the fuel consuption be like in this towards the daf 430hp.

They are a sow on diesel at the best of time!

I wouldnt be too familiar with them but they are well known for being a workhorse. For that reason a lot of them have done a hugh amount of mileage and work.

If you are planning on doing any work that needs to be done they are very easy to work on and quite simple too.

TBH, that does look like a nice wagon and it rare enough in that it is a mid lift 6x2

if i was to pay such money for this id be as well to give the engine a full inspection. i would'nt like to price a engine rebuild on one of those.

    The answer is 12k.

My mate who is a mechanic had one that was running perfect and dropped a liner without warning.

 alot of money alright. is there anything id need to look out for. never had a scania.

Are they hard to get parts for?

Parts are pretty common. McElvany in Monaghan would have a lot of bits both new and second hand.

King Pins are common enough but handy to do.

    Brakes are handy done.

Cab mountings I think give bother and afair there is a linkage going to the headlights for auto adjustment that fecks up.

The only thing to about buying something of this age is the wear and tear element. Stuff like window regulators, door locks & hinges, heater rads may give trouble and it is something that you may not be able to forsee.

As a mechanic, I would have no problems buying one of these as they are easy to work on and simple, but, if you have to pay someone to do all your work it may work out as a expensive wagon

I have to say one of my all time favourite truck. A real drivers truck maybe
because you can hear them working on a hard pull not like the modern stuff which all sound like washing machines. The only thing against them is age very newest would be 96 parts handy to come buy and very easy to work on too.
As what to look out for all those 143s good for a million miles and while they're
working they're wearing get someone to look over it for you they have been known to drop liners and for the odd gearbox problem kingpins, bushes, etc
are normal wear items anyway heavy enough on derv but depends on type of work too. I drive a 143-500 wagon and drag pulls like a train much prefer it to the 05 or 07 560s.

The one I mentioned was just out of the spray booth when I saw it.
    Absolutely stunning!
Also, I love the look of the 143 without the air kit.
