course closure

Anyone aware of stats on how many days (tee time hours) were lost this year on Ireland's parkland courses due to bad weather (rain) forcing course closure? Is it just me or was this year the worst year ever for "course closure"? I'd love to do some research on this topic because if this trend continues, clubs that are already struggling will be under even more pressure to get green fee revenue and its obvious knock-on effect in our Recreational Tourism industry.

Not sure on hours but I feel like leaving my club due to the weather and ground.

I can't remember the last time the place was dry and get some run off the ball.

If you got 10 yards of run you were doing well.

I think whatever parkland your playing this time of year its going to be really wet. The amount of rain we got Friday night, I was out Saturday morning and it was difficult to get a dry patch on the fairways.

Really? I've only had one home club comp cancelled due to weather all year and that was in November. Had two open comps abandoned due to rain, but on the whole this year has been great in terms of call offs.

Last year i think i lost 5-6 days.

    Thanks all,
"All bunkers GUR" [Did you penalise yourself one stroke if you dropped out ;)]
Thread not so much about course conditions as "course closure". Does your club keep stats on lost tee times and how?
We use BRSGolf booking system (and there are other fine companies supplying similar systems) and it gives lots of stats on course utilisation but unless we input 'these tee times were lost due to rain/frost/bereavement etc..' I'm not convinced that the stats returned would be accurate.
What I'm getting at is 'for the members, course closure it's a discomfort or annoyance but for the visitor, whether from abroad, regional or a society organiser its a real put off'. Not wanting to get into a climate change debate but if this WET trend continues what impact will it have on golfing in Ireland?

just to re-visit this as it seems relevant to some other threads regarding memberships

    dec--6

total 22 lost day out of 52 weekends=104 + approx 5 bank hol mondays
22 out of 109 = 20.18% of total days lost

qualifying competitions probably only the 4 apr/aug/sept

and the first 5 of jan gone already this year.......

of the 22 days lost i would imagine the course did open later,(after frost thawed) or maybe opened 9 holes after 10am allowing some play, maybe 6 times,
but no competition for those who did turn up......most people would have rang ahead to check so wouldn't turn out
