Did anyone watch the abomination that was Rugby Extra on rte.ie?

Basically consisted of Pope and Hook slagging each other while O'Shea tried to get some decent points across.

Only interesting point is that the whole panel feels that Against South Africa Bob Casey should at worst be on the bench, most think he should start.

    What do you guys think?

The main reason the panel gave in favor of it was although Casey is not as mobile as O'Callaghan you don't really need that against South Africa but his bulk in the scrum, and at the breakdown could be useful.

I'd certainly love to see him getting a chance.

That's exactly my own view, sorry Donner's but we need more weight in scrum which is going backwards at the moment. He ll relish the physical encounter anyway.

I'd like to see Bob in the mix but I can't see it happening I'm afraid. :(

There is nothing whatsoever that suggests Casey should leapfrog Cullen in the pecking order

Why? He's slow, fades after 65 minutes and has never shown the slightest interest when wearing the green jersey. He's just not international standard.

How can you say he shows no interest in green shirt he captained A on numerous ocasions and the fact that has seen so little time in first squad its hard to make a ponit like that

Give him 25 mins against Fiji and see where we're at.

u cant call bob slow, doc isnt fast either.

    it should be an option.

he never got a chance with the 1st team. this is the time to play with the 1st 15.

cullen bob should start against fiji. the best performer get the spot on bench. no way will kidney drop a munster lad from the 1st 15

He has been anonymous in any Ireland A game I have seen him in. He doesn't seem to have the pace for international rugby.

Exactly, 30 years old and London Irish captain and he has been happy to tog out to Canada with the kids for the Churchill cup the last two summers. I think he would LOVE to play for Ireland at Croker.

Not happening unfortunately. Not in the match 22.

    Pity.

I understand completely why there is a strong argument for him to start or bench against SA, despite Leo being a better player. It is similar to the Lions selecting Shaw, even though AW Jones is a much better prop when looked at 'in a bubble'. You choose a player to suit the needs of the team on that day. You don't just choose the best player at all times.

    You made that up.

Doesn't matter who plays it will be two teams with poor scrum techniques that faces each other. Healy just needs to straighten his back and he'll be fine....for the first 10 mins against CJ and then it will be downhill from there.
