Just wondering if anyone knows the odds/rules as in if your allowed double, double on a split, what blackjack pays, how many decks they use etc

I occasionally end up there and would like to learn optimal hit/stand strategy to at least reduce the casinos edge when i do play so im not donating my chips everytime, i know i shouldnt play a game where casino has the edge but none of my mates play poker so we usually end up at the blackjack table more for the social aspect rather than trying to make a profit. Or is there a european/irish standard set of rules?

Ive played there several times but never even bothered to ask what the payout was for blackjack etc simply cause i was just there for the craic, i think it was about 6-8 decks but i,m not sure, also the allow the player a black card to split the deck, whats that all about, does it mean they keep playing until they reach that card and reshuffle or whats the idea of that?

playing blackjack here in Ireland is very volatile to say the least .

u always get the as'#hole who wants a card when the dealer has a 5 or 6
and when u tell them they should not its my money not yours .
so trying to get a edge here is impossible .I seen guys splitting 88 or 99 when the dealer has ten in the hole and seen guys split ten ten when the dealer has a 5 or 6 they have winning hd why split .

best of luck trying to get a edge here mate

1, 6 decks 2, split is the place the cards are reshuffled when reach 3, blackjack is 6/4

ps your only chance is if everyone at table are playing from same song sheet

What other people do has 0 effect on your expected. What they actually get may affect your decision, but they're decision has no effect on your EV.

It's easy enough to find optimal strategy tables online for this dvdfan. They're not too hard to memorise either. Once you have that done, its probably wise to be able to keep a basic count as long as your not obvious about it. Thats simple enough as well, contrary to popular opinion.

Rules are usually that you are allowed to double on a 9, T, 11, blackjack pays 1.5, 4 decks, and doubling allowed on splits.

Yeah already came across strategies but they vary depending on decks used and the rules and odds so thats why i wanted to clarify those, the counting system seems pretty easy but ill mostly end up there after a few pints so i cant see myself being very accurate so im mostly just looking to play a decent strategy they have less of an edge, i know that even with the best strategy and rules ill still be -EV. From what i read even with this strategy they still have a -0.5% edge but my previous system they probably had a 15% edge as i wasnt even considering what the dealers card was

Interesting though that they let the players put the cut card in the deck, so the players can actually control what % of the decks are played before reshuffling. If someone put the cut card near the end of the deck someone counting could have a big edge, maybe they dont allow it too close to the end though, never really noticed, in fact i didnt even know what it was for when i placed it and just put it somewhere in the middle.

As tilting as it is while you're playing TommyGunne is right.

You need to get closer to 21 than the dealer's without going broke. This is essentially a summary of the blackjack rules. However, the game continues to captivate and captivate people just as it did now when it first hit the floor of the casino. This is why you will find tables offering it at Lighthouse Casino.
