Keeping it fresh

Do you ever get to a point when you're writing songs that everything you write sounds quite samey or bland and nothing sounds fresh and exciting?
I find that when I write songs I get like that sometimes, when I don't write something that excites me, I won't let anyone hear it.

Do you have any methods to "shake things up" and keep the ideas flowing? At the minute i'm struggling to write anything new because when I strum chords on the guitar and try and work out a melody it just doesn't get me excited. It's not writers block as I have ideas flowing but can't seem to find a tune for them that i like. It seems to be one or the other for me, I'll find a great tune but can't put words to it, or i'll get a great idea for lyrics but can't get a tune to it.

    Post your methods in here.
