Hi, my hubby is bulgarian & has recently completed a security course. In order to apply & get a psa licence, he must get a 10 year garda clearance. As he is living here in Ireland now, does anyone know how he may go about getting this? He has been onto the bulgarian embassy but with little or no help at all. We'd really appreciate any help or advice anyone may have. Thank you

If the PSA require him to be Garda vetted then they should provide him with a form which he returns to them. The PSA will then forward that to the Garda Vetting Unit, your husband need not have any contact with the unit himself.

Sorry, further to my being a smart arse, it occurs to me that you may be asking whether (and if so how to get one) your husband needs to provide something from the bulgarian side - the Irish vetting process will deal with convictions or lack thereof from this jurisdiction only.

As I understand it the thing to do is to submit the form provided by the PSA - they will then revert regarding whether anything further is required (they can ask for affidavits/further information as they see fit).

you husband cant gain this himself, he needs his employer to apply for it. they need to give him a form, he fills it out and they send if off. can take a good few weeks/months for it to return
