“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

The big problem of course is that people cant even afford to keep their cars on the road, never mind to rent out a garage big enough for a few cars.....

I dont think there is much of a market for car parking garages but I really think now is the time to get a DIY garage type thing off the ground. I know insurance is the killer here but Im sure it could be sorted if smeone came at it from the right angle.

Make the car parks skid pans and charge people to use them!
At least it would take the boy racers out of car parks across the country.

Is the OP still living in 2006?

Even if the country was still booming, this would never work here, for the simple fact that insurance is set up so that you may only drive a single car. There are obscure ways around it, but as a result of the awkwardness, no one has more than one car in this country and as a result, no one needs a place like this.

    Nice idea though...

No, why, what's that got to do with anything ?

Forget the individuals driving requirements, even if you only had one car, you could see some people looking at this. The experience (fruitless, in the end) in the classic forum of trying to organise something on these lines leads me to believe there is demand, really. But obviously the cost's need to stack up: near me there is a huge amount of empty industrial units that will never, ever, be occupied. You'd have thought that some income was better than none, these days...........
