Headlamp blown three times in as many weeks

    Hi all.

I'm driving an 05 Honda Accord 2.2 TDCI, and the left headlamp (dipped) has gone three times in as many weeks.

I'm suspecting there's something going on, like too much voltage or current feeding into it and blowing each replacement bulb, but I don't know what to do about it.

Has anyone had something like this happen? Is it common? What's the best course of action?

Try installing as OSRAM or HELLA manufactured OEM quality bulb, so you can eliminate the possibility that you are buying a cheap bulb replacement. Also, when you installed each bulb, did you make sure that you didn't handle/touch the glass of the bulb???

Lastly, is the lamp unit properly sealed off, as in the access panel that you have to remove to get at the bulb, has it been refitted properly so that water/dampness is not getting to the area???

Before investigating current surges, etc, I'd make sure the basic checks above have been boxed off. Also the electrical terminal block that connects to the bulb, check the two contacts to make sure there is no corrosion or a bad connection there...
