A friend of mine was telling me tonight that a rep from UCC came to his school and said theres some application process that you cna fill out, whereby if you miss the points you require for the coruse you wish to do you can still get into it...Anyone know what thats about because I'm terrifed of just undercutting the course I want to get.

you're thinking of UCC Plus, the UCC access program. It's not actually a way to dodge the points requirements for courses, it's a program to bring under represented communities into the university.

ya its a programme for the social disadvantaged students. Basically they help you out with extra tuition should you need some, you make lots of new friends during the access week, you can loan laptops from them and get a small bursary. it also helps with the points, though i do not particularly keen on that myself, but thats pretty much what they do.
also we'll be trying to set a society for the programme and other people that will need help during the college as well as encouraging secondary school pupils to come to university and apply for a course.

it depends really. basically access has a few places on the course reserved for themselves and they attribute these to successful access candidates. so, in a particularly bad year they can give some students 80 points or more and in a really good year 5 or 10.

    Oh,that awnsers allot thnaks :)

I wouldnt be feasible for that and I can partially guess why they didnt go to my school so and to my friends one((Being the knacker school of Cobh heh)).

I thought it was going to be just something for people to help get their course and not welfare system.Ah well,Hardwork will pay off hopfully :D
