The next Call of Duty is going to be developed by Treyarch as we all know by now.

I doubt Treyarch are going to do another WW2 game again as its been done and dusted with World at War and with Modern Warfare 2 being such a success I doubt they will chance making ANOTHER WW2 game.

I'm guessing its going to be a game based on the cold war sub conflicts like Vietnam/Korea and the other conflicts during the cold war as they have not been touched as of yet by the Call of Duty series (Nor by alot of developers) but then again when you look back on other cold war based games like BF: Vietnam they never are as good nor sell as well as WW2 based games.

So, What do you all think Treyarch are going to do come next year(Or whenever they release COD 7)

They are not doing another WW2 game again, they have said they are going onto something new. Can't remember if they specified anymore, but I saw something on it on kotaku..

Erm Battlefield Vietnam was the era in a nutshell, its all in the game, even the music from the period, and is seriously good fun to play.

As Hairyfairy said Battlefield Vietnam got vietnam spot on, helps that its one of the best battlefield games in the series.

Shame no one plays it anymore (gonna go check now actually.)

    EDIT:

    sniff barely a handfull (http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?game=bfvietnam&public=&order=players)

Korea would essentially be a ww2 game, I can't see a FPS based on Korea being made.

Vietnam on the other hand has variety, they'll need to get the vegetation on the money for it to look right though.

Its thought the next installment will be in Vietnam and maybe Cuba. Seems Treyarch have been trying to licence music from that era.

They've already got that right in WAW, some of the jungle and village environments would work in Vietnam and were very well done graphically

I would have no interest in a Vietnam game done by Treyarch in my opinion they should try and give IW a run for the money and look at the modern era of warfare. By sticking with WW2 or Vietnam you are pretty limited with what you can do. As we saw in MW2 even
an invasion of the US can happen.

I think activision have it split between treyarch for IW to release Modern titles on modern fictional wars and Treyarch to cover wars which actually happened like Vietnam e.t.c.

That way each year is alternating between Modern War and Historical War which is great.

World at War was done excellently

So what would the last level be? Destroy as many of your own sides helicopters as possible so the enemy can't use them?

Probably stand guard at the gates while some poxy civilians board a helicopter.

It's the working name for the newest game in the series, which would make it game 7, problem?

If thats all Treyarch have in store for next call of duty they can kiss any chance of them developing another game goodbye.

Seriously though, whats wrong with calling it Call of Duty 7 when thats what it is.

    Here we go again.

well they wrecked it by not calling WaW cod5 ....and it just sounds weird.

    cod1, cod2, cod3, cod4, cod5 (what sounds funny?), cod6 (same), cod7(same) and the list could go on
what sounds funny about a different number?

EDIT: to keep constructive, i think it might be difficult to make a game on vietnam as the americans really wouldnt fancy a game on it i would imagine

I hardly think Vietnam vets are the game playing sort.

The target demographic wouldn't have an emotional connection to that conflict, if anything MW's theater of war should resonate much more strongly.

    Probably vietnam,

What I wonder though is how long can they stretch Call of Duty? it comes out every year, how many more can they do? will they go into the future? I loved BF2142 tbh, a future game when done properly and "realistically"(no light sabers and crap) could be really cool, I'd dig an optical camo in a Call of Duty game.

As for "not calling it CoD7" all I can say about the Call of Duty franchise is that Angry Nintendo Nerd would not be happy about it, it's a complete mess of naming schemes and releases.
