    Hi ya,
As you may know, I (Mrs Rameire, not Mr - he's too sensible to do that!!! hahaha) recently quit my job and decided to go out to work in photography full-time.
    Well, I have a question to ask...

What cars do you guys (and gals) for work?
A jeep... a commerical van... a regular car?
What do you suggest I look at getting?

I travel from Athy to Dublin and back EVERY DAY at the moment for college and work (when I can get it!) so it needs to have a little bit of poke, but just thought I'd ask you all what you thought...At the moment I have borrowed a jeep from a very good friend of mine, but I have to give it back eventually....

    Thanks!

P.s....I know this is not the motoring forum, but i thought asking people in the job already would be a good idea!

I know a photographer who was a people carrier of some sort... and got a ladder fixed to the back and a platform fixed in like a roof-rack on top.... he gets up there with the tripod for group wedding photos!

Please, DO NOT buy a tractor! (tractor=SUV) They are big, heavy, bad handling, heavy on fuel, high taxation, take a lot of space, they are hard to park and the are the most dangerous cars to pedestrians and especially kids. Well, unless you do extreme offroad photography in deep mud and snow.
What you need is a practical car, that means comfortable to drive, big boot, back seats easy to fold to fit in longer equipment, low consumption and high level of protection from burglars.

From experience, I had company cars Focus (1.6tdci) and now it is Nissan X-Trail. Focus is better in every aspect but the boot space.

I've an Opel Insignia. Very large boot space. Great to drive over distances. Something worth considering.

lol, I've driven loads, mondeo hatchback turbo diesel was great, bmw msports, savage car, loads of room but at 2.2l petrol too expensive, then merc clk compressor, not enough space and at 2.3l petrol too expnsive also, now I drive a hrv, decent poke, cheap enough petrol, 4x4 version but not a huge amount of space, i can fit everything but as Paul can vouch since he helped me pack once I can fit me plus all my studio gear and not much else.

Out of all the cars I have ever driven, i change very very often, I would mostly recommend the mondeo for space and money even at 2l the diesel wasnt hugely expnsive, great bit of 'poke' in it and an all round great car (until I got a dodgy service the wrecked a few parts). A skoda octavia is very similar to the mondeo, but do go for a hatchback if you go for either of these.
