Going to collect a new toy in two weeks....Anyone want a lift?

I'll be heading close to Bristol in a fortnight to collect something 'new'. I'll be heading in the Disco with a car transporter to bring my new toy home. Will be leaving Rosslare on Saturday 28th @ 9am, returning on Sunday at 02:30am ex Fishguard.

If anyone want to keep this in mind when you're browsing ebay, I'll have a passenger seat free in the car on the way over. Can detour through Gloucester or Bristol if it'll sort a boardsie out with another new toy too. :)

It'll cost you your ferry ticket and a share of the diesel, but no more. Also, the back of the Disco will be empty and could take an engine/gearbox etc. Same kind of space on the trailer, and I'll be well within weight limits etc.

    Gil

    1979 Short wheelbase Series III
    Drum brakes all 'round
    No power steering
4 speed manual 'box - vague as the steering
2.25 4 Cylinder Diesel - smokey when cold, but I'll sort that.
    Crap heater. Cold.
Full Ragtop. Bloody cold. That'll need replacing with a new one as it's shrunk.
    All in all, Lovely.
Very original, unlike most yokes on the go that have been trashed as cheap offroad playthings or modded to bits.

500 miles since Saturday last week, completely trouble free except for a dodgy start when leaving Gloucester, flaky battery proved the culprit. Needs a few small things doing, but don't they all. I'll run it all winter and see what I do with her in the summer....

Can't figure out how to upload a pic and then insert it into the post....maybe someone can do it for me.

Could I have seen that on the N11 during the week?

Quite likely. The wheels are all wrong - The tyres are way too big for a little 88, so they'll come off to be replaced with a set of smaller and more appropriate landrover rims and tyres. I think the mods and 235/85's will do fine on my Disco though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,835 ✭✭✭CamperMan

if you decide to get rid of the wheels, let me know

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,946 ✭✭✭BeardyGit

She cost enough, but not too much ;)

Will be keeping the wheels and tyres for something else.
