Does anyone know the difference between a Toshiba A500-17X and an A500-19X?

19X is the latest model and is 100 euro dearer in Harvey Normans than a 17X is in PC World Catalogue.

But according to the spec, the only difference is that the 17X has half a GB extra Graphics than the 19X. They both have a Centrino 2 processor.

(As a side-note, I need a laptop mainly for music, 90% of which will be recording vocals using Cubase. I might also start using Apelton for production. A few friends have Toshibas and they seem solid to me, but my knowledge is very limited. Any other thoughts would be appreciated, cheers!)

    Going by the following specs.

The 17x has a better graphics card. This will make a difference for 3d work like games and cad. The processors are different. The 17x has a slower main speed but higher FSB and cache which would indicate it's a newer processor (I'm not as knowledgeable on laptop processors as I used to be) either way I doubt you'd notice a difference between the two processors. Apart from that they both appear to be the same. So the 17x would be a bit better I'd imagine but I doubt you'd notice much of a difference.

I don't know anything about cubase or apelton so I don't know if they would run that well on it. I imagine they would as they're both well specced machines.

    thanks!

swaying more towards the 17X at the moment at the moment- although the slower main speed is discouraging!!

We're talking 2.13Ghz compared to 2.2Ghz. That's about 3 or 4% difference. Also the 17x processor has a higher FSB (which means it can communicate to thing like the system memory quicker) and more cache. Intel processors usually like cache quite a bit so I imagine they are both as fast as each other in real world usage or if one is slower you probably wouldn't know.

You're not going to notice any difference between those processors, that said the 17X would have the better of the 2 processors imo, as AlmightyCushion said, there is only a very tiny amount of difference in clock speed, where as the processor in the 17X has a higher FSB and Cache.
