Does anyone know why the wi fi is down the last couple of days and when it will be back up?

I was away Thursday and Friday - is it STILL down? I think Comp. Services are on "go slow" but it was reported to them much earlier in the week and the technican who looks after it was off that day and also "how long is a piece of string" was an additional response.

power going out thursday didnt help much either. no doubt they'll rework that into the excuse somehow.

"Go slow"?? Under what authority are you getting this information? The issue was a security certificate one. And as public sector spending heavily monitored and reduced somewhat, it was necessary to get approval to renew the certificate.

Iv heard a number of Class Reps mention it and I believe it was discussed at some board meetings reps are on with lecturers. It would explain delays in getting things fixed around the college this year (printers, PCs, Wireless etc).

I can assure you, all of the class reps and people at the board meetings have been misinformed. There is certainly no "go slow". What might be the factor is that a lot of new PCs arrived late and were expected to be setup in double quick time. As staff were on holidays etc. this wasn't possible in such a short space of time. And the knock on effect has contributed to the WIT Card printing system not being available also.

Hope this clears some things up. :)

Fair enough, thanks for the clarification. If anything it was probably an excuse trotted out to take the heat of them for all the problems.

I noticed some of the IT rooms not hooked up to printers (including a lot of the F corridor), screens not working, half of the computers giving startup errors, new printers not setup fully in the library and so on. Being near December, you would have thought it may have given plenty of time for the IT staff to get working on addressing the problems. Then when its brought up, they blame the IT Staff for being on "go slow" over flexi-time being cut/scrapped.

Either way though - its taking an awful long time, which is a pain for those who badly need it :)

hi lads sorry for bumping this thread but it might be somewhat relevant to this thread..I have applied to W.I.T for next September and will probably stay at Manor Village as I hear it is a good spot for 1st years...Just wondering though, if anyone knows what wireless connection is like there..Is it slow or is it quick enough for me to use the PS3 online??

    Thanks in advance

Manor does not offer wireless internet afaik. The internet in general would be nothing special but could do the trick

Same story again with riverwalk wi fi doesnt work with PS3, just ok for browsing really. Manor Village and Riverwalk are really the same, Riverwalk is 5min closer to the main campus, but manor village is 5 min closer to town and right next to the college st campus so its handy if your course in college st. Think both places are a small bit more expensive than private accomadation which is plentiful at the moment.
