    Hi all,

    Can anyone give me some help on this. I had my Grandfather's service record, you know the one page print out that you get from the Military Archives. I plan on giving them a ring during them week, [I just have a photocopy]. However, I was hoping posting here before hand might give me a better understanding of what further details I may be able to get.

    Anyway as I'm sure alot of you know it's just a very brief outline of his service, he served during the Civil War and was in the BA after, and I think before, as within two weeks of joining he was a CSM. It it possible to get further details of his service record or is the one page outline I have as good as it gets?

    hey, sorry i cant be much help, but just wanted to ask you where do you go to get the printout as i would be interested in getting my grandfathers service record

    I just have copies of both my Grandfather's I did not request them personally, However, the info on the headpaper is as follows:
    Military Archives
    Cathal Brugha Barracks,
    Rathmines,
    D 6

    01-8046457

    So give them a buzz and that should start you off, I going to contact them myself to see if I can get any further info.

    Does anybody know if they have the passsing out platoon photos in the Military Archives...?
