    Hi,

Anyone know if there are any photographers in Galway who specialise in taking a passport photo suitable for the DV-2011 USA visa application.

The photo needs to be in digital format.

I already had passport photos taken in a chemist and scanned them in myself but they don't look 100%.

    Regards. :)

Just take the photo yourself with a camera and upload it! you can then alter it to whatever size you need it to be

Thanks, i'll check this out this week.

I looked at taking the photo myself but i don't want to take the chance on having my application binned immediately.

    Regards.

This is who I was going to recommend. The last time I was getting passport photos done I went to them and they took a few goes to make sure they were right.

When my Son and I got our Irish photo's, it only cost £6 for a professional photographer to take them and make the grid to get then to the right spec. He would have done the same for American ones. Think he worked on the basis that we would get a family portrait set, which we never did. :p

They have a photo validation service on the DV 2011 site so you can check if the photo is ok before you send application.

Not exactly the same issue, but for American Passports, digital photos taken by chemist and sized correctly are accepted.
The US Embassy used to accept only studio photographs, but that is no longer the case.
Last time, I used the chemist across from the hospital. The whole process of getting a mug shot taken by a girlie in a white coat witha regular camera seemed a little hokey at the time, but the end result was spot on.

Use your computer's webcam (as long as it is reasonably good res e.g., 1.3MP+). For size pick 800x600 and then just chop off 100 pixels on each side with Gimp or something like it.

I did this last year and it worked fine, interview in 3 weeks or so.
