Can anybody recommend good history programmes that can be downloaded as podcasts?

Also, does anybody else use itunes u? It allows you to download university lectures from universities around the world; again, I was just wondering if anybody could recommend particular lectures?

Talking History on Newstalk, there are close to 100 episodes that can be downloaded

    BBC History Magazine.
It's in addition to their magazine, if you read the magazine you can hear the writers discuss their articles.

    Both available on itunes

I don't know about college lectures, that'll keep you going for now

Almost forgot, RTÉ Radio 1 has good podcasts. "What if" discusses events in Ireland, there is a podcast calling Passing the Picket on different strikes.
Speaking ill of the dead is someone picks a famous Irish person and then rips them to shreads :P
And a good series on De Valera is available too

    You have itunes, happy searching

In Our Time with Melvyn Bragg is pretty good.
There's my podcast, Historyzine which you'll find on Itunes or at the website http://historyzine.com/
I also like Binge Thinking History at http://bingethinkinghistory.libsyn.com/

You'll find on Itunes that it's still possible to navigate the categories even if it looks like they've gone away. Hover your cursor over menu item, podcast - you'll see a little down arrow. Hit that and categories appear. Choose society and culture and then choose history. Lotsa choice for you there.
    Have fun.

Over at Historyjournal.ie we have started a new podcast series. We are only finding our feet but it might be of interest: http://www.historyjournal.ie/podcasts.html

    Re: Podcasts

If you like listening to the radio and podcasts you should consider a wi-fi internet radio. I use mine to listen to Newstalk's Talking History amoungst others. It's a handy device as you don't have to turn on your computer. You can find loads of radio stations and podcasts worldwide. It allows you to search by genre or by location. e.g you can search for podcasts under the genre of History. BBC Radio Ulster also do History podcasts. Check this thread out:

    Thanks for that! :)

I'll see what I can do about length! I didn't want to make them too long but maybe I can lengthen them over time.

I meant to add that If you don't listen to Marshall Poe's new books in History, it'd be worthwhile. They are nice and long and range across every imaginable historical topic: http://newbooksinhistory.com/
