The presenter on Sky News was just going on about what a great day of sport we are going to have today, and about how all the "home nations" are involved.

They mainly just talked about the Ireland v France match......beautiful.

Feeble effort at raising hackles. The war is over. The wall came down. Embrace the post-nationalist discourse and stop trying to stir shyte.

As a consolation for people who wandered in here expecting a half decent thread, here's the Beastie Boys and 'Check it out.'

The op is correct. We are not one of the home nations.

On this very special day of bluster and flag-waving, I trust that any nascent West-Brits and pinko dissenters will be dealt with accordingly.

    OLE. OLE. OLE.

It's comforting to be accepted in to the Queen's drooping bosoms. Home run?

MITM means man in the middle. I dont think these things exist yet we deprecate crypto protocols all the time because of them :(

I'll take watching sky sports too. And I don't mind us being a 'home nation' if it means more
coverage of our teams. Sure they've a valid claim with the amount of British born players anyway.

I don't really care about the 'issue' being raised in this thread, it's like primary school where a bully still calls you names but you know they're not true and he's a sad knobhead, that's the way I see this 'home nations' tripe. So, contributing with some Beastie Boys, this is worth a listen.

They didn't claim Ireland was a home nation, they just talked about the match more than the others has its a bigger match.

Oh the horror of a foreign channel talking favorably about us.

When it comes to soccer - or rugby for that matter - we are in essence one of the home nations.

Where did all of players fly in from to play this game?
Why do we have Sky news if we are so damn different?
Why are the FAI prepared to sell rights to Sky Sports?

You can't run around town in your Utd or Liverpool jersey and then introduce the 1916 card of convenience.

Intresting analogy which will always be around .I have to decide whether to stay in or go out to watch the match .

Let's put nationalist bashing before facts. Anything that happened in 1916 does not change the fact that this country is not a home nation. Some people really do amaze me.

    To answer your questions

England mostly as that is where they work.
It is FTA on a satellite whose beam covers our country.
Why did the FAI sell rights to Sky Sports. I don't know, make some money probably.

Before you throw the wearing English soccer jersey thing at me please provide examples of my staunch anti English attitudes. Thank you.
