How strict are shops like Ribble and CRC on returns going back within 7 days or similar?

Ask them. I doubt anyone has a 7 day policy, Wiggle I know have I think 40 days and I have sent stuff back outside that after asking.

Bobshop have a 28 or so day return policy, which is the standard with most retailers, online or otherwise.

Under the EU distance selling regulations you have a minimum 7 working day period commencing the day after you receive the goods to change your mind.

In practice most retailers will accept returns 30 days or more after the original sale (CRC accept returns up to 30 days after receipt for example). The retailer must then refund you within 30 days of the date of cancellation.

Fair enough, seems like 7 days for Ribble, they are just doing the legal minimum. AFAIK legally it is 7 days from your receiving the goods. No harm in asking them all the same, although I get the impression that Ribble doesn't get those low low prices by having award winning customer service.
