    Hi all,

There've been a few threads enquiring about cycling clubs, and mention has been made of St Tiernan's CC several times, so i thought I'd post this thread up.

I'm a member of St Tiernan's CC. We're a medium-sized club with both a competitive racing section and an enthusiastic touring contingent. During the season, we race in a strong club league involving Usher, Orwell, UCD, and Lucan, and we have a number of members doing touring and cyclosportif events (such as the Wicklow 200, the Sean Kelly Tour, and the Etape) through out the year.

We're keen to bring new riders on and support them. Our regular training spins leave at 09h30 on Saturday mornings. The starting location can change depending on where we're headed - it tends to vary between Parkvale (Dundrum), just outside the Maldron Hotel in Tallaght, Phoenix Park, and the Stepaside Garda Station, but the week's starting point will always be posted on our website well in advance, so you can check that out here: http://www.sttiernanscc.com/wb/ .

We also have beginner spins leaving from Parkvale at 10h00 on Sunday mornings. Our aim is to eventually transition the beginners over to our Saturday spins. We would ask that beginners turn up on drop bar road bikes and wearing helmets, and that they're comfortable covering distances of around 60 to 80 kms. That having been said, we fully appreciate that starting out on club spins can be a daunting experience for any beginner, and we do place a lot of emphasis on looking out for new joiners and making sure they're comfortable - you will never get left out on the road alone!

For those who are keen on having a go at racing next season, we have hired a coach who has drawn up a training programme for us which we've just started on, so it's not too late if you'd like to join in on that.

Contact details are on our website if you'd like to speak to one of the club members (or feel free to PM me) - hope to see you out at one of our spins soon.

    Brendan
