Is anyone experiencing and issues with lag on Xbox Live. Specifically Eircom WiFi. I'm usually on 3 green bars in game, but it still lags quite a bit.Is it Eircom, or just that there are a load of people playing it first week?

Is someone else accessing your router via the wifi ?. It'll lag bad if someone else is using your internet too.

Make sure the router is password protected so no neighbours etc are using it themselves!.

What's your connection speed? Is anyone else using the connection at the same time as you?

We have two other laptops, that are usually on sleep when not in use.Would they still be interfering with the network if nobodies using them?

I had very slow BB for a few weeks (so much so I was unable to play online). I rang eircom and they suggested my neighbours might be up to no good and they changed my connection name and password. heypresto problem solved.

Your ping is very high which I think is the main cause of lag.

When i was using eircom, i suffered really bad XBL connections, it was usually when the laptop was connected, eircom is rubbish when it comes to live.

I got rid of it, now i use digiweb. much better, 2 laptops and the xbox often run off it, does not affect the speed at all. no Lag.

put eircom in a box and say goodbye to it. they are thieving bastards. I never got any help off them.

You're probelm is Your ping, getting 6.5Mbit means Your line is in good condition. Pc gamers reclon that wifi isn't suitable for gaming and they're right, its not some magical shít that sends signals through walls, it performs best closer to the wifi router and slows down going through walls. If You're in a position to plug in a patch lead to the xbox, do it, even if it means sending a cable up through your attic and down to the next room. Wifi inside a house adds latency and its not Eircoms fault

Hi, I'm also having problems playing MW2 on Xbox. I also live in Cork and am on Eircom's 3mb package. I believe there could be a problem with the line. My Xbox connected directly to the Xbox with a ethernet cable to the router so it has nothing to do with WiFi for me.

The lag for me only occurs at peak times during the day. What will happen is short jumps which last around 1.5s and happen every minute or so. This might not seem like a big problem but I cannot even begin to count the number of times this has caused to die.

I'm on eircom's crappy service too (well my apartment is, its not in my name otherwise I would have changed it years ago.) but its pretty consistent with xbox live, I just have to make sure my PC and mac are completely powered down, not even in sleep mode, otherwise the connection is pretty awful.

Mine was the complete opposite!!. Was with Digiweb on a 3mb package and getting .8mb's then went to Eircoms 3mb package and actually getting the speeds and lag free xbox live also when i'm on the laptop at the same time.

I totally agree to u. I was with Digiweb and always had connection issues, Download limit breaches and stuff. I changed over to Eircom and i never had any problems. As a matter of fact I am getting a NAT 1 now.
    I have a 7 MB connection.

No ISP is perfect, people have better experiances with other providers. I use to have no problem with eircom, but over time it just got worse.

I guess im having more luck with digiweb as im only a stones throw from thier "big ariel thing?"

Also in Douglas so it could very well be a problem with the line.

its not just eircom its all broadbands, i play with few of me mates some on perlico, some on bt and some eircom.. we all have problems connecting most of the time

i go to a match it puts me in the lobby for ages then it says game session closed or couldnt find host etc.. then finally get a game after its finished it sometimes kicks me out sayin same thing as above etc...

what is the point of it stopping halfway through when the host leaves and looks for a new 1 when half the time it cant find a new host??

i think a lot of irish and british connections are having serious lagging problems connecting to the american servers it really is a joke dont how many times iv shot at someone loads of times only for the lag to cost me a kill .. mw1 had better connections a lot better

Yeah I'm having lag issues on NTL. Particularly today I just turned it off because it became unplayable.

Could it be that so many people are playing the service providers can't keep up ? Its gotta have a fairly high bandwith requirement what with the game and chat etc etc
