Cant see where to post this but alot of metal heads listen to Gothic aswell.

Can anyone recommend some good old Gothic music? Along the lines of Bauhaus or DEINE LAKAIEN.

    Thanks!

The Cure aren't Goth they are just The Cure.

Try Bauhaus, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Fields of the Nephilim, All About Eve, Deathcab for Cutie, Ghost Dance, Inkubus Sukkubus, Switchblade Symphony to name a few.

The only Cure album that i would really call 'goth' is Pornography. Still, a fantastic band though. My favourite goth band ever has to be The Sisters Of Mercy. Even though they despised the term they really did define gothic rock in the 80's. Bauhaus are the real pioneers of goth, their debut single 'Bela Lugusi's Dead' still sounds as creep as f**k. Also if you listen to Joy Division you can clearly hear the roots of the goth scene that followed.

Deathcab for cutie are hardly goth?
    Indie at best.

Try Alien Sex Fiend or The Mission UK

Also try The Mission Uk, Fields of The Nephilim, Nosferatu, Adoration, The Eden House, Elusive, Voices of Masada, NFD, Love Like Blood and Sisters of Mercy. All these bands are truly excellent guitar based goth rock, but I'm not sure if thats what your after.

If deathcab for cutie are goth music then Jay Z is death metal

I heard one of their songs on youtube, and I really really hated it. It was truly terrible. I can't see how this kind of horrible poppy/alternative music could be even considered goth at all.

No it was actually 'Soul Meets Body' but I'm sure the one you mentioned is just as bad/horrible. Back on topic, you should really try out 'Phantasmagoria' by The Damned OP, it's an awesome old school album from 1985 and it's very memorable and impressive. There are practically no filler songs on it at all.:D
