Recently got a job interview with LGT Bank as a fund accountant and was just wondering does anyone know what is the story on this guys i've never heard of them before there company was on gradireland.com.

As well as that was just wondering does anyone here have any experience on fund accounting? What do you make of it and would it be a good avenue for a recent accounting graduate? Don't really fancy the usual Big 4 stuff that everyone gos for (auditing & tax) wouldn't mind doing something a bit different...

So, fund accounting and LGT Bank, any thoughts?

I worked as a fund accountant and you are just a glorified computer data input clerk. The job is easy just input trades and redemptions etc., and wait till the market closes and the computer spits out nav. Take the job but you'll probabily only last a year but keep looking for the next job now. They luv new grads, there cheap and gone in a year:D

+1 to everything here, it's little more then data entry. Been there but it was called fund administration.

And when you start over half of your teammates will be gone within 12 months, probably you as well.
Take the job, get the years experience and then look for something better.

Well I know a guy who does the same sorta work, seems to like it ok, do you know if its typical affair to get your ACA through this kinda guys and of course whats the money like compared to say Big 4 or working at your typical accounting practice?

And on getting a position after working fund accounting do any finance or accounting places take this as decent experience?
