    So we have -

    Department of Sport
    Olympic Council of Ireland
    Irish Sports Council
    &
    Institute of Sport

    Is this too many organisations?

    In the day of cutbacks could they be amalgamated into one organisation!?!?

    Id tend to agree with you there. Im actually writing an essay on it at the moment for college. Although if the Mccarthy Report is followed there will be one taken from that list.

    The Institute could and would be the first one to get the chop as the newest kid on the block.
    But it would be fairly pointless as I don't think there is much money in the Institute anyway.

    The Sports Council is effectively a limb of the Dept of Sport anyway so they should be merged.

    The OCI has to remain independent and should never be under the control of the State.
