Wiggle - when did this start

Wiggle seem to have begun restricting access to products based on location. If you set your shipping location as Ireland in the little widget on the right and search for Endura. nothing comes back but a pair of goggles. Change the shipping location to UK and search again, and there's 103 results.

Am I so desperate to get out of work that I'm hallucinating or is this a recent thing?? Wonder how many other makes are affected?

e-mail Wiggle and ask them. It might be a programming problem with their website.

I noticed that myself, they could be restricted in the geographical area they are allowed sell certain brands. Or it could be an error.

Weird, added something to my basket but at checkout it was removed. You can buy Endura stuff on other sites though- got a base layer from PBK this week.

you get that sometimes - you often see Specialized kit for sale and underneath it may say - only available to UK residents - protects local retailers I guess.

Yes I tried to buy New Balance runners off them but they suddenly vanish when you select Ireland. I emailed them and they stated that they don't have the rights to sell New Balance in Ireland??, mad isn't it and they were €45 cheaper than runways.

What happens if you type in the Belfast post code BT1 1AA? It's the main sorting office. The staff up there just redirect it south.
I use it when companies only post to the UK

It just seems odd to me that they're the only site doing this - I've ordered a fair bit of Endura kit from CRC in the past with no problems, and I thought I'd ordered stuff from Wiggle too. I'm kind of curious now as to what else they're restricting.

This only started happening about two weeks ago. I had a pair of Endura waterproof trousers in my wishlist for ages but never got round to ordering them and then three weeks ago I recommended them to a mate in work. He put his order through straight away and were delivered within the week. Once I seen his I decided to buy but at that time the restriction was in place. I mailed wiggle and got a reply saying that it was due to shortages of the product. I'll be putting more business through CRC now as a result.

Does that actually work? Surely the postage would be different rates?

CRC also do Endura as do many others. They are a (relatively) small Scottish company I thought, surprising they would have such a restrictive agreement with Wiggle.

That may very well be considered to be illegal price fixing under european anticompetitive law.
See below extract from consumer affairs site.

    Competition in the marketplace

Competition law in Ireland exists to protect and benefit consumers. Anti-competitive practices are business practices which prevent or reduce competition in a market. Anti-competitive behaviour by businesses may result in consumers paying higher prices. The Competition Authority exists to ensure that anti competitive behaviour does not occur. If you find that all suppliers are charging the same price for an item or service this may constitute anti competitive behaviour and should be reported to the Competition Authority. Read more about making a complaint to the Competition Authority here.
    Anti-competitive practices include:
    • Price fixing, where companies collude to set prices. That is businesses selling the same item or service agree what prices should be charged for a particular product or service.
    • Tying, where different products are linked together to prevent consumer choice.
    • Resale price maintenance, where resellers are not allowed to set prices independently.
It is usually difficult for a business to use anti-competitive practices unless the parties involved have significant market power.

Just tried this out with amazon. Picked something that they won't post to IE. Added my IE address including:

    Dublin,
    Ireland,
    BT1 1AA
    United Kingdom.

Amazon then suggested "Royal Mail, Donegall Place, Belfast..." as the correct address but was happy to accept my address. Didn't complete the purchase tho. Might try something cheap later...
