Aside from the dubious colour scheme the R26R is a far better buy at that money than an 09 Focus RS (40K +)

Or you could have taken your 26k, bought an Exige http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1042103 and used the other 13 for a supercharger, nitrons, induction kit and a respray.

Then you'd have a 260bhp Exige S that would look better and wipe the floor with almost anything you could throw at it!

What's so funny about that? http://www.oph.ie/cms/index.cfm?fuseaction=page&pID=442

PS, the car sold last week after only being online for a few hours.

Well not so much funny as you reckoning that with the 13k that's the choices you'd be making..

Nitron shocks are regarded as the best for Lotus. Ask any owner!

the exact upgrades I would get are:
    Nitron shocks
    Toelink upgrade
    Tsukuba sport supercharger system
    K&N filter
    Stage 3 Exige exhaust
    respray in Verde Ithaca

R26.R is fastest FWD car on the 'ring, no? That's a fair achievement. Shame about the colour scheme and dubious looks tho.

That has to be without VRT?

Nope. Because it has no back seats the revenue see it as a car van :D Plus because it has windows in the back it can never be DOE'd or NCT'd , it falls into that funny little gap that nobody ever bothered fixing...Mad :)

Elsewhere you would probably see it described as 18 litre!

Very interesting. Does this mean it is considerably inexpensive to VRT? All the same I don't see any windows in the back on the particular model in the ad. Does that mean this one would have to be DOE'd?

Car vans do have VRT, and its not the 50 sheets for a real van either. 13.5% (alright, its a lot less bad than it could be...)

32% VRT on emissiosn based system

As a track car probably. Otherwise no. Plastic windows, no equipment, no rear seats, and a roll cage.

.....yeah, yeah, wipe the floor crawling out of it on a wet day, more like..........fine car the Lotus is (I've driven...), and the Renault is still more useful.

...commercial, eh ? Cool !

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

^ I see a golf gti at least once a week covered in BTW tiles logos. So much so that it looks like a car van

So if you remove your back seats you can get commercial tax? :D

I don't think it would be quite that easy antodeco. Plus if it was that simple I'd imagine you would have to declare that the car was to be used for business/ commercial purposes as in give the name of a business that you are affeliated to.

It is that easy. I know of a Legnum VR4 and a Supra commercial.
Same as anyone driving a Berlingo or a Caddy and taxing it commercially.
The abilities of the car don't matter a jot. You can get a Mercedes Vito with a 200bhp engine.

Thats interesting Colm mcm. My first car was a Renault Megavan which I bought second hand. It had commercial tax on it already and I was never asked or told to change it over to motor tax based on engine capacity even though I did not use it for commercial purposes. I assumed I was just lucky in this regard.

If the other poster simply removed the back seat from his car would he automatically be able to tax his car comercially. I would have imagined somebody from the revenue would inspect the car? And if they were any way half good at their job they would see through this I'd be thinking? I stand to be corrected though.

As long as the mounts for the seats are rendered permanently unusable, and certified as so by the VRO.

There was well publicised VRT scam a few years ago whereby X5s etc were being imported, having the back seats removed, VRTed as commercials, and having the back seats put back in at a later date.

    Wait a minute..........
So does this mean that the likes of this MINI GP (out of the factory with only 2 seats) would qualify for commerical VRT and tax?

Yes, you'd have to black the windows out and make the floor a bit flatter.

Bloody hell! But you would want to have that in writing before showing up at the VRT office...
