Finally after unemployment for months I have got an interview for Christmas work with an Post.:p Can anyone who has done this before tell me what to expect from interview and the job itself (temporary Christmas staff in one of the mail centres according to form). I am aware it could be unsociable hours! Thanks

I did it last year.Interview is very very basic ..they just ask chat to you and ask if you can work nights etc. It's in a big room with a massive table with about 20 interviews being done at once as there is loads of an post staff interviewing so don't worry at all...you basically have the job if you are getting interviewed!!Dress neatly but I wouldn't wear a suit or anything.

Last year I was just sorting mail..Mostly Christmas cards. It's very easy and they even allow you to listen to your ipod! The hours last year were 3-9.45 with a 1/2 hour break with an oppurtunity to do overtime if you liked almost every day.You had to work 10 to 6 on Saturdays.

There are also positions for actual postmen too but I do not know about the hours for that position.I was called this year to do a 3 day computer course for video coding but I'll be away that weekend which is a shame!

Good Luck anyway.Hope this helped a bit!:)

Thanks a million for the reply, great to hear first hand. Yeah, I was planning on just wearing pants and a shirt and tie. I figure its to assess your character and make sure kleptomaniacs are not being hired ;). When you say 3-945 is that am or pm? It says in the letter that you must state your preference for day or night hours, obviously I'd prefer to work non-zombie hours if possible but do you think this would work against you in their decision to employ someone? (As oppossed to saying whatever suits the employer)

What kind of money were you on do you mind me asking?

Thanks again for all your help

edit: Sorry to bombard you with questions but how long did they actually employ you for?

    That's ok,happy to help.

    -It's 3pm-9.45pm
-I said no to nights and they were fine about it
-erm can't remember the exact amount.it was 11e/12per hour and 13 something per hour after 8pm and weekends..i think...around 400e a week(also remember getting some hol pay too)
    - oh and only employed till 23rd dec...so depending on when you start..i was there for about 4 weeks
