Watching NTL Plus recordings on laptop - how?

Got the NTL Plus put in. Have a fair few recordings on it. Was wondering if anyone knows any way to stream these over a network to watch on laptop?

The plus box has an ethernet connection on the back, but doesn't connect to the network. The router doesn't assign it an IP (or it doesn't request one).

    Any ideas?

Wouldn't be certain but I'd guess and is supported by this thread you would have to deal with it as if it was showing now. So either a dvd recorder or a tuner card in your PC connected to the box and then play and record like the old VCR days. If you go the DVD route simply copy to the PC of the DVD afterwards. A dvd recorder that supports rewritable discs would be very useful so if they exist (I don't own one).
