I mostly use traktor but only when i'm recording a mix.

Do you think you need to be familar with more then one piece of software ?

I've never used ableton but it seems to be the preference of clubs

How to you figure? I'd imagine sound guys would talk about it more than Traktor, but that's probably because they'd be more used to studio work than DJing, where people would use Cubase and Ableton etc.

And no, you don't need to be familiar with anything outside of what you personally use. If you wanted to go into production then yes, I'd say give Ableton a go, or if you aren't happy with Traktor, then try some of the others, but otherwise no.

    Cool, Just wondering

Only getting into all this digital **** myself and truth be told it bores me a bit although i'll admit that i doubt i am using every availlable feature they have to offer, get bored using the software pretty easy, i'm enjoying messing about with the CDJs but i miss the touch feel and smell of vinyl, think i'll keep an eye for a second hand set of technics to keep me happy until i suss out all the buttons.

Think i'll put the production on hold too ;)
