I am going to buy an iPod. There seems to be an awful lot of shops selling iPods including 02, Zhivago, Argo$.

If the price is right, I will support a local business but otherwise I will buy from a faceless multinational monster.
    Any suggestions?

If you are buying an Ipod Classic from Argos, make sure it's the one in their new XMAS catalog, not the regular catalog.
The one in the regular catalog is the 120GB version, but the one in the new XMAS catalog is the 160GB version at the same price (229Euro). They have different codes, but if you order the old one, you will get the old one.

ipod prices are not competitive....short of some sort of special offer or old stock being sold off you'll find that their prices are the same everywhere.

Pretty sure they are the same price everywhere. Buy it in Zhivago... local business. Ask staff if you buy some accessories (skins, charger etc) will they do ya deal/discount.

Do not get it engraved if you even slightly think you might possibly sell it later down the road, not surprisingly engravings seriously reduce the resale value.

I am surprised that Mactard has not suggested that you buy a Cowon as it is way better than the iPod.

Have a look on the media player forum.

Bought an Ipod in DID-seem to be the cheapest around--20euro cheaper than Argos--

    Check adverts.ie.

2nd hand from a careful owner might as well be new.
