It was announced in our office today that some people would have to take a 10% pay cut and some would have to go on to a 3 day week plus a 10% pay cut.

unfortunately I'll be in the second group which could amount to a 50% pay cut at worse.

Some one in the office wife works in HR. She said it should be one or the other an not both.

Just wondering is there any one out there that could confirm this.

This is gona have massive implications for me so looking into all my options

Social welfare is based on a six day week.
If you get put on a three day week you may be eligable to claim for other days provided you're looking for full time work

    Thanks for the feedback.

The question I'm asking is can work impose both cut backs or not

As far as I know, they can do what they like to save the company. The trouble begins based on the criteria they decide you fall into is decided. What is the reason for the split in conditions (i.e. some with more favourable deal)? Is it merit-based? Random?

    Every one gets the 10%

One department gets that plus the 3 day week. We wouldn't have much work on at the moment so its based on that I assume
