My grandad use to put a a dumy into a pair of tights and stuff it full of feathers he would then tie a piece of rope onto it and let fly. Then he would gently pull it towards him with the dog still attached after a couple of sessions he would leave the rope a side and the dog though it was second nature to return it to him..

My homemade dummy is half a cushion with 2 wings tied to it fixed at one point so the swing. I have stuffed it with a towel for weight & the rest feathers. Works a treat to get a dog keen.
Bad in water though as it will sink after a few throws but once the ground principles are set, water is only progression.

On both my dummies I have duck wings attached with string. They work great - they just need a little bit of straightening now and then.

Drive between Avoca and Woodenbridge and you can pick up as many Pheasant feathers as you want.

Probably a good few on railway track too! :).

Of course this would be highly dangerous stopping on the road and walking on the railway.

Go ask in East Coast Dog & Gun in Gorey..I'm sure someone there could arrange it for you no problems.
