Dell 640m Dull Screen

Hey all have a 2-3 year old Dell Inspiron 640m/6400 and the screen is not bright at all, it looks washed out and the backlight is dull , is there anyway to fix this back to new-like? By software or just replacing it with a new one from ebay.

    Any help appreciated!

I presume ya have tried to raise the brightness using the Fn key.

Older laptop screens are duller, i have a 6400 with a matte screen that's very dull compared to other newer laptops, it's just the way it is unfortunately, software won't fix it either.
Unless it's noticeably duller now than it was when new, i doubt there's anything actually "wrong" with it.
